A Round-up Meet day 2015 from the MA national conference #MeetDay2015 Sydney
As a prequel to the Museums Australia 2015 conference, on 21 May, a meet day was held, bringing together three special interest groups for the first time in their own forum. These groups were museum workers in fields of education, digital technologies, and evaluation.
The format for the day encouraged exchange of ideas and discussion. There were four sets of three lightning talks of seven minutes. In-between each set was a recount of the main messages – and usually a lively discussion. The final session of the day was an ‘unconference’ where we got together in groups, each armed a stack of post-it notes and discussed a topic of interest. Our group discussed the museum as a creative laboratory. We decided the key to achieving this was to ‘turn all assumptions upside down!’
Here are the topics discussed on the day. I’m not say it’s complete, and I haven’t gone into any details, but just have a browse to get a feel for what was topical on the day. I’ve roughly a grouped them into topics. Many thanks again to the organisers of the day.
